Capt. Greg Bowdish's Fly Tying Page

Although I don't get much time to do it these days, fly tying has always been one of my favorite aspects of fly fishing. The satisfaction of catching a fish on a fly you not only made but designed is one of the most satisfying experiences in all of angling. I created this page to showcase a few of the flies that I have come up with over the years that have grown a following. These are the flies that were born with much encouragement from "Mother Neccesity" and lots of guidance from "Mother Nature". These are the flies that I turn to first (when I have had a chance to tie some up) and flies that have become staples in other's fly boxes. I offer the tying instructions here so that you can enjoy them. For those of you who are looking to "borrow" these patterns for reasons outside of simply fishing them, please keep in mind that these patterns have all been published and protected and any such use will require my written permission.

I get many e-mails from people asking to buy flies and although I was able to do this for a time, these days my schedule just doesn't allow for it. Perhaps this will change and perhaps not. Whatever the case, you should have all the info here to tie your own - something far more satisfying! I have also included links to some of the many fly tying articles I have written which should be even more food for thought.

Tight Lines and Happy Tying!
