Guided Fly Fishing At Night

IT IS A WELL KNOWN FACT THAT MOST FISH FEED AT NIGHT.
WHAT IS NOT WELL KNOWN IS THAT THE FLY ROD IS THE BEST WAY TO CATCH THEM!

Under lighted docks, fish are highly visible and so is the food they eat. Many seasoned anglers I take out at night are shocked at the tiny flies needed to trick these large saltwater fish. They are also surprised to learn that the fly rod is better than conventional tackle at pulling big fish out from under docks. It may start out like freshwater trout fishing, but it ends up like hand-to-hand combat!

At left is a photo of snook oriented into the current under the snook light at The Sun & Moon Inn in Matlacha, FL.The snook are all 24" and larger. Schools of snook are common under lights that offer the right feeding conditions and make for excellent targets for the fly angler..
Because we are fishing in canals and interior salt basins, wind and weather is much less of a problem and the casting distances are relatively short. So even if night fishing doesn't interest you and you book a day trip with me, night fishing is a fantastic contingency plan for when the weather gets nasty. Save your fishing trip! Give up a night of sleep and end up having one of the most exciting fishing experiences of your life!

Tarpon of all sizes are an occasion encounter when night fishing.
